Trexo Robotics provides robotic walking devices (exoskeletons) designed for children with mobility challenges. At our clinic, we use the Trexo Plus that allows therapists to support and guide children as they practice walking in a safe and engaging way
Who Is It For?
Trexo can be used by children with a wide range of conditions that make walking difficult, including:
- Cerebral palsy
- Muscular dystrophy
- Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)
- Brain or spinal cord injuries
- Other neuromuscular conditions
Sizing
Medium Trexo:
- Hip to floor 43-53 cm
- Hip to knee 21-24 cm
- Knee to floor 22-29 cm
- Max weight 80lbs
Impact / Benefits
- - Allows children to take many more steps than conventional therapy would allow, which may help with strength, motor learning, bone health, and possibly gait improvement over time.
- - Supports posture, trunk control, encourages upright walking, and provides a way for children who cannot walk independently to experience overground walking.
- - Provides data feedback (step counts, initiation, time walking, etc.) for therapists and families to track progress.
How Does It Work?
- - Through the assistance of the robotic legs attached to the frame of a walker, the childs legs are gently guided through a natural gait pattern.
- - Therapists are in control at all times, being able to make specific adjustments to the childs walking speed, support levels, and step pattern on the spot
- - Each child has their own customized profile for ease of use and for specific data on the childs walking that can be used to compare as more sessions are done
